SOCIAL STUDIES

The Social Studies Department promotes the development of inquiry and research skills, critical thinking, and communication. Technology is integrated into the curriculum to further develop an understanding of the present, develop a capacity for understanding multiple perspectives, and subsequent tolerance of diversity and change. Courses allow students to gain a strong knowledge base in the social sciences. Social Studies courses also foster civic competence, the ability to become informed, responsible citizens who are able to contribute to the well-being of their communities. In addition to the required history courses of Civics, Modern World History, and US History, there are several electives including three AP Courses, Introduction to Psychology, World Geography, Economics, Contemporary Issues, and Law & Justice.
